MotorMonday: Wreck of a Tanker Truck

There is nothing really historic about the scene in this photo, just some poor guy who was having a really bad day a lot of years ago. Looks like the trailer got just a bit too close to the edge, and the wood gave way. The background looks like desert, so this could easily be one of the oil fields in Southern California, or Texas. For truck - and especially tow truck - afficianados, it doesn't have to be historic to be a cool photo.

Dump Trucks

As soon as trucks that could haul stuff were invented, someone decided it would be good to be able to dump that stuff out the back, and the dump truck was born (I over-simplify, of course...there were dump-horse-drawn-wagons even in the late 1800s). Since everyone loves dump trucks (ok, I did as a little boy, so I'm projecting), here are a couple of very early ones.

Possibly a Ford AA?

Bakery Truck in the Snow

Just because it's winter in the city doesn't mean people don't want to eat pies and cakes and cookies and rolls!

Girls and Pick-Up Trucks

The first #TBT of every month dedicated to our love affair with our cars and trucks.

I saw a bumper sticker the other day on the back of a big 4x4 pickup that said "Silly boys, trucks are for girls!" And, it seems, that's a very old sentiment, as far back as when pickups were new.

A Stop in Bishop

For the first #ThrowbackThursday, or #TBT in each month, we feature a photo showing America's love for its new cars and trucks.

For those not familiar with eastern California, you might not have heard of the little town of Bishop. It is a unique place, sitting at the northern end of the Owens Valley, the gateway to the eastern Sierras. Bishop has a history steeped in mining and mountaineering. John Muir used to come though upon occasion. It is a watering hole on the way to Mammoth Mountain, Mono Lake and points north. For hunters and fisherfolk, hikers and climbers, it is a place to eat and fuel before heading into the back country.

So what's this gentleman doing? His truck appears to be loaded up...is he heading for a mining operation? A camp?
