A Bad Train Wreck

This photo has no information written on the back, and I cannot discern any details that would help figure out when and where this train wreck took place. Clearly, though, it's a bad one. A passenger train with the locomotive ending up inverted, and what appears to be bridge structure sticking up high in the air means this was one bad scene.

Kids at a Train Wreck

A passenger train has met with misfortune, and several neighborhood kids have shown up to gawk and get their photo taken...the kid on the right is a crack-up...is he, perhaps, pretending to be an outlaw train robber?

A Logging Train Wreck

Train wrecks seem to have held quite a fascination for people back in the late 1800s and early 1900s, with plenty of gawkers showing up, some bringing their cameras. Someone took the time to record at least three photographs of this accident involving a logging train. Unfortunately, they didn't record any information on the back of the photographs. So about the only information that I can glean from from these is that the locomotive was the No. 4.

The tech geek in me finds the underside of the locomotive, especially how the brakes linkage was designed, quite fascinating; one almost never gets to see this view of a steam locomotive. And note that the two center drivers didn't have flanges.

MotorMonday: Wreck of a Tanker Truck

There is nothing really historic about the scene in this photo, just some poor guy who was having a really bad day a lot of years ago. Looks like the trailer got just a bit too close to the edge, and the wood gave way. The background looks like desert, so this could easily be one of the oil fields in Southern California, or Texas. For truck - and especially tow truck - afficianados, it doesn't have to be historic to be a cool photo.
